Behind the glass: a night in onde’s studio

From the eight o’clock news to the four a.m. mix: how a small station stays on air all night.

The studio is smaller than you imagine: two desks, a window into the corridor and an ON AIR sign that someone once rewired to flash in time with the music.

Eleven people keep onde on air through the night. Most of them never meet, passing the studio like a relay baton at the top of the hour.

At four in the morning the DJ plays a record for a single listener who has written in every night for a year. Nobody knows who they are. Nobody wants to find out.
