Ember table lamp

Tallow turn the Ember base from offcuts left over from larger pieces, so no two have exactly the same grain. The paper shade gives a warm, low light that suits evenings.

• American black walnut · Dark, fine and slightly figured, with purple and grey notes that settle once oiled.
• Washi paper · Translucent and fibrous; turns light into a soft glow.
• European oak · Pale honey tones and a strong, open grain. Hard enough for tabletops, soft enough to carve.
• Ebonised ash · Deep black with the grain still visible through the colour.

Use a warm-white bulb of 2,700 K or lower for the intended glow.
