Check with the Light FinderAbout this plant
Calatheas belong to the prayer-plant family: their leaves rise in the evening and lower at dawn. Botanists moved most of them to Goeppertia in 2012, but shops kept the old name.
How to care for it
- Light
- Medium to bright, indirect light. Direct sun fades the pattern and crisps the edges.
- Water
- Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy, and check twice a week. Rainwater or filtered water helps avoid brown tips from hard tap water.
- Good to know
- Loves humidity: group it with other plants, stand it on a tray of wet pebbles, or keep it in a bright bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 Rated 5 out of 5 The care card actually helped
I always overwatered. The card said “when the top 5 cm are dry”, so now I check with a finger, and for once nothing has rotted.

Rated 4 out of 5 Lovely plant, slightly smaller pot
Healthy and well rooted. The size guide was accurate for height; the grow pot was a little narrower than I pictured.
